The City of Cape Town has been declared the cleanest city in South Africa, winning the Metro Category of the Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism’s Annual Cleanest Town/Cleanest Metro 2006/2007 awards at a prestigious ceremony in Gauteng on Thursday, 22 March.
Best Airport:
Cape Town International Airport has been named the best airport of its size in the world in the International Air Transport Association's (IATA) annual poll.
Most Intelligent City:
Cape Town has been named as one of the world’s most intelligent cities. The award is handed out by the Intelligent Communities Forum, a New York think-tank that researches and promotes the use of broadband technologies. Other cities in the running include five in the US, three in Canada, Dundee in the Isle of Man and Doha in Qatar.
